OT Engineer Path
Connect devices, configure adapters, and ensure reliable telemetry.
Goal: Model your plant hierarchy, connect field devices, and verify live data in the UNS.
Prerequisites: DataHub running (Quick start); network access to PLCs or MQTT brokers as needed.
Steps
- ISA-95 hierarchy — plants, machines, devices, tag paths
- Plants, machines, and devices — create hierarchy in the console
- Adapters overview — pick SIMULATOR, MQTT, S7, or OPC UA
- Protocol guide for your adapter:
- Simulator (demo / lab)
- MQTT
- Siemens S7
- OPC UA
- Data quality — CONNECTED vs adapter status, quality codes
- UNS Explorer — confirm live values and history
- Rules and alarms — optional first threshold rule
Estimated time: 2–4 hours for first device; less with SIMULATOR demo plant.
