Inventory
Warehouses, locations, stations, spare parts, and stock.
The Inventory section covers warehouses, spare parts, and stock levels. WMS products and orders are documented in WMS.
What you'll do
- Create a warehouse with layout and generated locations
- Configure stations for outbound fulfillment
- Manage spare parts catalog and stock adjustments
Warehouses
Warehouses (/warehouses) are plant-scoped storage zones.
Create and configure
- Create a warehouse under a plant with code and name
- Set purpose (
GENERAL,QUALITY,QUARANTINE, orSCRAP) — independent of layout. Incoming QC stock lives in a Quality warehouse; see Chemistry IQC - Choose a layout type that matches your physical storage
- Edit the layout matrix (aisle/bay/level axes depend on type)
- Generate locations to expand the matrix into
WarehouseLocationrows with stable address codes
Layout types
| Type | Typical use |
|---|---|
| CONVENTIONAL | Aisle / rack / shelf / bin addressing |
| VERTICAL_ASRS | Vertical AS/RS — aisle, bay, level, depth |
| HORIZONTAL_CAROUSEL | Horizontal carousel axes |
| VLM | Vertical lift module addressing |
Use the warehouse detail page to preview the matrix, block cells if needed, and run Generate locations (dry-run available before committing).
Locations and stock
- Each location holds stock balances (item or spare × quantity × optional lot)
- Stock tab shows on-hand quantities; Ledger tab lists movement events
- Location metadata (XYZ or custom fields) can be stored for WCS integration later
Stations (Work Centers)
On the warehouse detail → Stations tab, define fulfillment desks used by WMS orders:
- Add a station with code, name, and kind (PICK, PACK, SHIP, QA, CRANE, DOCK, GENERAL)
- Set fulfillment mode (
PICK_PACK,PICK_ONLY,UNIT_LOAD,PLAN_AFTER_PICK) - Toggle require pallet plan when pack must wait for built logistics units
Orders claim a station before release; the station's mode drives the pick/pack/ship playbook.
Requires inventory permissions (create, read, update, delete, adjust).
Spare parts
Parts (/parts) is the spare parts catalog (distinct from WMS products at /products).
- Create parts with name, code, brand, and unit of measure
- Assign compatible machines or devices
- Set initial stock at a warehouse location (creates a balance row)
Stock adjustments
Use Adjust on a part or location to increase or decrease quantity. Requires inventory.adjust. All adjustments are audited in the stock ledger.
Maintenance work orders can consume spare parts from shared stock — see Maintenance.
Brands and units
Part brands and units of measure are managed via catalog lookups on the parts form.
Low-stock rules can raise alarms when quantity falls below minQuantity on a part record.
Parts vs WMS products
| Area | Route | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Spare parts | /parts | CMMS / maintenance consumables |
| WMS products | /products | Finished goods, raw materials, packaging |
Both share the underlying item model but serve different console workflows.
